The Campbell

The Campbell is an original 10” x 20” colored and pastel pencil on sanded paper. This piece features “Beaver”, a talented ranch gelding by the Haythorn Ranch stud, “Snicklefitz”. This great gelding belongs to Dakota Tawater and he appears in another of my works, “A Kind Eye, Good Bone and a Bottomless Heart”. Some horses are just photogenic and the camera loved him on that drizzly morning gathering and branding a Thomas Entz’s ranch in western Oklahoma. 

I chose to title this piece, “The Campbell”, to continue my collection of work that honors the gear makers artwork. The beautiful Campbell bit that he is carrying was fun to draw with the patina on the steel and pretty engraved silver overlay.
