Under These Western Skies

"Under These Western Skies" is another tribute to a tried and true ranch horse. I featured "Chocodoc Starlite", aka "Splitty", and his rider, Ty Bearce, in "Looking Back on Heritage... Moving Forward to Preserve It". The pair are the real deal and it has been a pleasure to use them in my work. 

In this piece I photographed "Splitty" while he was resting between the gather and dragging. Through out the day, this bay gelding seemed to ease through whatever was ask of him. It was a beautiful spring day with just the right amount of breeze and the brilliant blue western sky was full of the promise of rain that didn't disappoint later that afternoon.
