Featured in “Sortin’ Off the Bulls” is TJ Roberts riding “TRR Whiskey Cat”, aka “MJ”. This gelding is by Cats Hillbilly and out of an own daughter of Paddy Irish Whiskey. I took the reference photos for this piece in the spring of 2018 at the Tongue River Ranch. The men had gathered the Big West pasture and move the cattle to the River Pens trap. Here TJ and the men were sorting off the bulls and dry cows before the pairs were moved to the pens to brand. It was fun to watch “MJ” match the big bull stride for stride across the herd. there’s nothing like seeing a great AQHA Ranch Horse at work!
